Responde preguntas como "What is the talk mainly about?".
Responde preguntas como "When was the first car completed?".

Pregunta tipo ECEP · Listening
A question asks "What is the talk mainly about?" The recording mentions several dates, names and figures. Which listening strategy fits this question best?
  1. A) Writing down every single number you hear and choosing the most frequent one.
  2. B) Listening for the overall idea (gist): the topic and the general story being told.
  3. C) Translating each word into Spanish before deciding on the answer.
  4. D) Focusing only on the very first sentence and ignoring the rest.
Pregunta tipo ECEP · Listening
You need to answer "In which year did the first car roll off the production line?" What should you do during the second listening?
  1. A) Listen for the general mood of the speaker.
  2. B) Decide whether the speaker likes or dislikes the car.
  3. C) Count how many people are speaking in the recording.
  4. D) Scan for a specific date and link it to the event mentioned in the question.

Pregunta tipo ECEP · Listening
A recording opens with "Hello, and welcome to HistoryPod," followed by a single narrator telling the story of a company over several years. What kind of text is it most likely to be?
  1. A) A live phone conversation between two friends.
  2. B) A radio commercial trying to sell a product.
  3. C) An episode of an informative podcast.
  4. D) A set of spoken instructions for an exam.

Pregunta tipo ECEP · Listening
In the recording the narrator says the gullwing doors and stainless steel body panels were expected to be the car's "unique selling point." In this context, "unique selling point" means:
  1. A) the only shop where the car could be bought.
  2. B) the distinctive feature that would make the car attractive to buyers.
  3. C) the lowest price offered for the car.
  4. D) the place on the production line where the car was finished.

Hello, and welcome to HistoryPod. On 21 January 1981 the first DeLorean DMC-12 sports car rolled off the production line. The DeLorean Motor Company was founded by engineer and automobile executive John DeLorean in 1975. October 1976, with initial investment from celebrities including Tonight Show host Johnny Carson and singer Sammy Davis Jr.

Meanwhile, DeLorean secured significant financial incentives from the Northern Ireland Development Agency in order to build a manufacturing plant in Dunmurry, a suburb of Belfast, in an attempt to cut unemployment and curb sectarian violence. The factory was built in 1978, with production of the car scheduled to begin the following year. Subsequent engineering delays and budget overruns meant that work on first units didn't actually begin until 1981.

Built by an enthusiastic but largely inexperienced workforce, the first of the distinctive DMC-12s was completed on 21 January. Fitted with gullwing doors and finished with stainless steel body panels, the car's appearance was expected to be a unique selling point. However, by the time first cars were available, a recession had hit the United States and this had a devastating effect on new car sales.

It is reported that at least half of the 7,000 cars produced by February 1982 had not even been sold. Although the company managed to limp on for a few more months, the DeLorean Motor Company went bankrupt shortly after its owner was charged by the US government with trafficking cocaine. Although he was later acquitted, DeLorean's reputation was irreparably damaged.

Pregunta tipo ECEP · Listening
What is the recording mainly about?
  1. A) The complete history and downfall of the DeLorean Motor Company and its car.
  2. B) How to drive a sports car with gullwing doors.
  3. C) The political conflict in Northern Ireland during the 1980s.
  4. D) A comparison between several American sports cars of the 1980s.
Pregunta tipo ECEP · Listening
On what date did the first DeLorean DMC-12 roll off the production line?
  1. A) 21 January 1981.
  2. B) October 1976.
  3. C) February 1982.
  4. D) Sometime in 1978.
Correcta: A. El audio abre con "On 21 January 1981 the first DeLorean DMC-12 sports car rolled off the production line".
Pregunta tipo ECEP · Listening
Who founded the DeLorean Motor Company?
  1. A) Johnny Carson, host of the Tonight Show.
  2. B) The singer Sammy Davis Jr.
  3. C) The Northern Ireland Development Agency.
  4. D) John DeLorean, an engineer and automobile executive.
Correcta: D. El audio dice: "founded by engineer and automobile executive John DeLorean in 1975".
Pregunta tipo ECEP · Listening
According to the recording, why did John DeLorean choose to build the factory in that location?
  1. A) Because it was close to his celebrity investors.
  2. B) Because the United States had banned the production of sports cars.
  3. C) Because the stainless steel needed for the body was only available there.
  4. D) Because he received financial incentives and it could help cut unemployment and curb sectarian violence.
Correcta: D. El audio dice que aseguró "significant financial incentives from the Northern Ireland Development Agency in order to build a manufacturing plant… in an attempt to cut unemployment and curb sectarian violence".
Pregunta tipo ECEP · Listening
Why did sales of the DeLorean car go badly?
  1. A) Because a recession had hit the United States, which hurt new car sales.
  2. B) Because the gullwing doors were too heavy to open.
  3. C) Because the factory in Belfast was destroyed by a fire.
  4. D) Because the company refused to advertise the car.
Pregunta tipo ECEP · Listening
What can we infer about the workforce that built the first cars?
  1. A) They were highly experienced car builders brought from Detroit.
  2. B) They refused to build the car for political reasons.
  3. C) They were eager to work but had little previous experience.
  4. D) They were all engineers trained by John DeLorean himself.
Pregunta tipo ECEP · Listening
What finally happened to the DeLorean Motor Company?
  1. A) It was bought by a larger American car maker.
  2. B) It moved its factory back to the United States.
  3. C) It went bankrupt, around the time its owner was charged with drug trafficking.
  4. D) It became one of the best-selling car brands of the decade.
Correcta: C. El cierre del audio relata que "the DeLorean Motor Company went bankrupt shortly after its owner was charged by the US government with trafficking cocaine".
Pregunta tipo ECEP · Listening
The narrator says the company "managed to limp on for a few more months." In this context, "to limp on" most probably means:
  1. A) to grow quickly and successfully.
  2. B) to continue with great difficulty for a short time.
  3. C) to stop all activity immediately.
  4. D) to sell the whole company to a competitor.

Recording 2. Liberado para docentes.

Host: So, you and John Krasinski have worked together for years now. People always talk about your on-screen chemistry. How do you feel about him?

Interviewee: Honestly, I owe him a lot. When I was auditioning, he was already established, and he really helped me get the part. I'm so grateful to him for that collaboration — we just work well together.

Host: And what exactly is that chemistry? How would you define it?

Interviewee: For me, chemistry is when staying in character next to your co-actor feels completely effortless. You're not acting at being comfortable — it just happens like magic. You don't even think about it.

Host: Can you build it if it isn't there? Can two actors create it on purpose?

Interviewee: I don't think you can really manufacture it. If it's not genuine, the audience can tell. It's more a matter of luck or chance — you either click with someone or you don't. It's not something you can plan or force into a script.

Pregunta tipo ECEP · Listening
Which alternative best describes the interviewee's feelings towards John Krasinski when mentioning his audition?
  1. A) Competitiveness towards him regarding acting.
  2. B) Romantic love for him.
  3. C) Physical passion for him.
  4. D) Gratitude towards him for their collaboration.
Correcta: D. Dice "I owe him a lot… I'm so grateful to him for that collaboration": el sentimiento es gratitud por la ayuda recibida en la audición.
Pregunta tipo ECEP · Listening
How does the interviewee define chemistry?
  1. A) When co-actors feel comfortable with physical proximity.
  2. B) When co-actors experience a deep attraction for each other.
  3. C) When remaining in character while co-acting is effortless.
  4. D) When co-actors date and marry in real life.
Correcta: C. Su propia definición es: "chemistry is when staying in character next to your co-actor feels completely effortless".
Pregunta tipo ECEP · Listening
What does the phrase "IT JUST HAPPENS LIKE MAGIC" refer to in the context of the recording?
  1. A) Easy acting with John.
  2. B) Meticulous acting with John.
  3. C) Sensual acting with John.
  4. D) Adventurous acting with John.
You don't even think about it").
Pregunta tipo ECEP · Listening
What do the words "MANUFACTURE IT" refer to in the context of the recording?
  1. A) Locating chemistry in a script.
  2. B) Conveying genuine chemistry.
  3. C) Building up chemistry over time.
  4. D) Fabricating inauthentic chemistry.
Correcta: D. Dice "I don't think you can really manufacture it… If it's not genuine, the audience can tell": manufacture aquí es fabricar algo falso, fingir una química que no existe.
Pregunta tipo ECEP · Listening
Which alternative best summarizes the interviewee's thoughts on chemistry between actors?
  1. A) That chemistry is just a matter of good acting.
  2. B) That chemistry is a matter of luck or chance.
  3. C) That chemistry comes down to familiarity.
  4. D) That chemistry takes hard work to develop.
Correcta: B. Su idea de fondo: no se puede fabricar y "It's more a matter of luck or chance — you either click with someone or you don't".
Pregunta tipo ECEP · Listening
Which alternative best matches the communicative situation in which the recording takes place?
  1. A) A formal interview with a television producer.
  2. B) A conversational interview with a talk show host.
  3. C) A promotional interview for a television series.
  4. D) A casual interview between co-actors.

Welcome back. Today we're looking at one of the most popular beer styles in the world: the IPA, or India Pale Ale. The name is actually a little misleading. Although "India" is in the title, the beer was not brewed in India at all — it was brewed in the United Kingdom and then shipped out to British troops and traders living in India during the colonial period.

So why "India"? The long sea voyage from Britain to India took months, and ordinary beer would spoil on the way. Brewers solved this by adding large quantities of hops, which act as a natural preservative. The extra hops kept the beer fresh for the whole trip — and they also gave the IPA its famously bitter taste.

Just how bitter? Bitterness is measured on the European Bitterness Unit scale, and a typical IPA sits between 35 and 40 units — much higher than a standard lager. The alcohol content is usually around 6 to 8 percent.

One last note: IPAs tend to go down best in the winter. The rich, bitter flavour suits cold evenings, and that's when most drinkers say they enjoy them the most. So next time the weather turns cold, you'll know what to reach for. That's all for today.

Pregunta tipo ECEP · Listening
Why is the name IPA misleading?
  1. A) Because the beer was brewed in the US.
  2. B) Because the beer was brewed in India.
  3. C) Because the beer was brewed in the UK.
  4. D) Because the beer was brewed in Africa.
Correcta: C. El nombre engaña porque, pese a decir "India", "the beer was not brewed in India at all — it was brewed in the United Kingdom".
Pregunta tipo ECEP · Listening
How did the beer maintain its quality for the duration of the trip?
  1. A) By protecting it from seawater.
  2. B) By adding large quantities of hops.
  3. C) By adding fruits during the brewing process.
  4. D) By increasing its alcohol content of 8 %.
Pregunta tipo ECEP · Listening
What is the European Bitterness Unit scale for IPA beers?
  1. A) From 5 to 8.
  2. B) From 10 to 20.
  3. C) From 30 to 35.
  4. D) From 35 to 40.
Correcta: D. Dato literal: "a typical IPA sits between 35 and 40 units" en la escala European Bitterness Unit.
Pregunta tipo ECEP · Listening
According to the recording, which alternative best matches the meaning of the sentence "IPAs TEND TO GO DOWN BEST IN THE WINTER"?
  1. A) IPAs tend to be more refreshing.
  2. B) IPAs tend to be more enjoyed.
  3. C) IPAs tend to be sweeter than usual.
  4. D) IPAs tend to have more alcohol.
Correcta: B. "Go down best" es idiomático: significa que se disfrutan / sientan mejor. El audio lo confirma: "that's when most drinkers say they enjoy them the most".
Pregunta tipo ECEP · Listening
Who is the MOST LIKELY intended audience for this recording?
  1. A) People interested in learning more about sea voyages.
  2. B) People interested in learning more about the IPA beer brewery processes.
  3. C) People interested in learning more about the history and features of IPA beer.
  4. D) People interested in learning more about the flavors and hops of IPA beer.
Pregunta tipo ECEP · Listening
This recording was mainly:
  1. A) Persuasive.
  2. B) Informative.
  3. C) Argumentative.
  4. D) Narrative.
